I grew up in Chicago watching my mother work her magic on every room she walked into — rearranging, sourcing, layering old things with new ones until a space felt completely alive. She had a gift for making a home feel like a portrait of the people who lived there. Meaningful objects, a piece of furniture with a past, a pattern that stopped you in your tracks. It turns out, she was my first and best design teacher
